Been awhile

Since the last posting.. A couple more Cactus Clubs opened up here in Vancouver. One of them on Burrard and Dunsmuir and another one on Marine Drive in Burnaby.

I've been to the new Vancouver one and was quite impressed with the layout of the place. They have lots of seating for two - four people. They have around 4-6 tables for parties larger then four. So if you have a large party, you probably be better off going to the Yaletown Cactus Club.

Been awhile since I've posted

I've still been going to Cactus Club Cafe. Was there last Friday for a co-worker's promotion. His treat to the first 100 buxs for booze (couldn't argue with that!) Since went there right after work. I couldn't eat too much, since I was cooking for my wife for dinner later on. Only thing I had was dry ribs. Dry ribs were dry, unlike one of their competitors (will not mention their name).

Will be posting some more....

Locations:

If you ever come to Vanouver and want to check out CC.

Robson Street is an awesome place for the patio. Especially during the summer time.

Broadway and Ash: Is the place where they test out new dishes for all Cactus Clubs. This menu will a little from month to month.

Broadway and Granville: I like this place to watch sports. Nice and large screen and they have TV's in other parts of the restaurant.

Yaletown: Friday and Saturday night, is a great place to be. Very crowded so get there early. Lots of young and hip people there.

Ones below I don't get to very much.

Burnaby near Metrotown: I found this place small, but with the same great food.

Burnaby Broadway: Another good place to watch games

Richmond: Open concept and has a fire place with multiple screens.

Surrey: Lots of screens

North Vancouver: This place has a good patio.

West Vancouver: One of their newer locations which I didn't see any screens. But, this place I don't go to watch the games. Since I live in Vancouver. I'm sure there is peopel that do watch the game here.

Coquitlam: Been awhile since I've been here

If anyone been to the Calgary/Nanamio/Kelowna locations. Can you contact myself if you have any pictures of the place?

Robson street patio

Met up with two co-workers and a friend here on Friday afternoon. One of the co-workers lives nearby and managed to get a patio saved for the three of us. Normally, we spend around 90 mins at a CC. But, being on Robson street patio, we were there for around 2 and a half hours (We gave a good tip). One of the guys is newly single and was rubber necking throughtout the sitting.

I had the usual BBQ chicken burger and fries. We treated this outing more like a guys afternoon out. One guy invited a female worker to join. Thank god she didn't show up.

If you make it out to Robson street. Try to get on the patio of CC.

Golden Plate 2006 - Vancouver awards.

This is an award handed out by one of the local free papers the Georgia Straight.

The awards Cactus Club recieved are:

Best Hangout.

People Watching.

and

Washroom.

Quite surprised that they didn't make the list for "Place to Watch the Game" Three places I do enjoy watching the game: Granville and Broadway, Broadway and Cambie and Yaletown.

I have to admit once a game is one. I do not think of CC on Robson Street. The locations in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby (maybe too small), Surrey and Richmond. Is kinda out of the way for myself. But I have been to the Surrey location for games.

Cactus Club - Broadway and Granville location.

Just got back from this location (I live like a 15 min walk from this place). Watching the Canucks vs San Jose game on pay per view. My wife made it to the location before I did and she stated that there was no line up for the seat. One minute later, it started to overflow people wearing Canucks uniforms, etc, wanting to sit down.

Main Course:

Had a simple meal today -- The Cajun Cheddar Chicken burger with fries with a Coke. Once the server came by and placed the plates down. She had the burgers mixed up with my wife’s burger. She had a regular meat burger and fries. We quickly did a switcheroo of burgers. One thing I noticed, the waitress did not ask if either of us wanted their garlic mayo dip for the fries. I would have said no anyways

Dessert:

We ended with the "Crab Dip" instead of a dessert. Which is a tortilla chips (yellow and purple colour) with a crab dip. Which I do order with my friends / co-workers before a game.

Service:

The waitress came by frequent enough to check on our drinks and ask on our meals and gave suggestions.

Atmosphere:

A large number of customers in the place of all sorts. Suits, casual and Canucks uniforms. Where I was sitting there is a good view of the Moose's head hanging on the wall. The bar area was filled to to the rim (where the Big screen TV is.)
